Beloved, make yourself correctable. Give your mentor the opportunity to “spank” you (not literally) if need be.

I’ve seen people who have grown too big to be corrected. I’ve seen folks who shut down the voice of a father in their lives. They position themselves in such a way that the father couldn’t talk to them anymore. They attack him and indirectly keep him quiet.

I’ve since realized that many people always love the good side of fathering and mentoring. The moment you show them their flaws and point at something that might become a challenge later in their lives they put up a defense and they suddenly know more than their teachers.

Such people are treading the path of destruction and will ultimately silence the voice that God has placed to make sure they arrive at their place of glory.

Samson was such a man. God placed his father and mother over him not just as biological parents but as spiritual as well but unfortunately he kept shutting down their voices until they decided to keep quiet over him. He eventually went to the land of the Philistines where his destiny was arbitrarily cut short.

Beloved, don’t ever put yourself in that position where your father decides to keep quiet over you. Remember, Modecai has his own job but took it upon himself to check up on Esther daily. It is not a right but a privilege. Give him room to always tell you all that is in his heart.

My spiritual father once told me that he has some protégés who he leads in some areas of their lives but who leads him in some other areas. That was a deep statement. You must know that a father has more information about the “palace” than you.

Hear this:

Esther 6:1 “On that night could not the king sleep, and he commanded to bring the book of records of the chronicles; and they were read before the king.”
