Proverbs 13:23 “Much food [is in] the tillage of the poor: but there is [that is] destroyed for want of judgment.”
Proverbs 13:23 “The poor might have good land that produces plenty of food, but bad decisions can take it away” (ERV)
Six: Don’t make decisions without adequate consultations. It is good to seek counsel from a wide range of opinions, weigh the advices carefully then make an informed decision. Rehoboam listened to two different groups but didn’t carefully consider the two counsels.
Proverbs 11:14 “Where no counsel is, the people fall but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.”
Seven: Be weary of people who only tell you what you want to hear. Many a times, the advice you need might not be “palatable”. Truth is not always pleasant to hear but you need to hear it all the same. Friend, don’t take decisions based on the counsel of people that will only tell you what you want to hear. Flattery breeds deception which leads to error and disaster.
Eight: You can never go wrong when you master the act of listening to the Holy Spirit. He is our number one counsellor. Hear this:
John 14:26 “But the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, Whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you all things. And He will cause you to recall (will remind you of, bring to your remembrance) everything I have told you.” (AMP)
John 16:13 “Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear that shall he speak and he will shew you things to come”
The Holy Spirit is the believer’s advantage. He knows the best decisions to take in every situation in life. When you listen to Him decision making becomes easy.
Bad decisions always keeps a man poor, break the hold of poverty by making and following good advices.
