LIMITING FACTOR-1
Judges 11:1 “Now Jephthah the Gileadite was a mighty man of valour, and he was the son of an harlot and Gilead begat Jephthah.”

In the next couple of meditations, we are going to be considering the life of another judge in Israel by name Jephthah.

This young man had everything going for him but there was a big clause in his life. Before he was born he already had a serious limitation. The circumstances of his birth has put a limit on him. Some things that happened in his background showed up to stop him.

The name Jephthah means the womb opener, break forth, unstoppable and deliverer. His name was highly prophetic and promising. He had a prophetic agenda to fulfil. He was commissioned to bring deliverance to Israel. He was designed to be unstoppable and of course to be wealthy, breaking forth on every side.

Everything about Jephthah smells success including his father’s name. The name Gilead means “heap of testimony”. When you hear his name you can already have an idea of who he is and who he should become but then the circumstances of his birth constituted a major obstacle.

Jephthah was the son of a harlot. With all the inherent promises, he had a background that could literally shatter his destiny.

The life of Jephthah typifies the life of several believers. You see a born again Christian, spirit filled, loaded with the very life of God, custodian of the promises of God but whose physical circumstances is not reflecting same.

You see many Jephthahs in the modern church and you cannot but wonder why they have chosen to allow there background to keep their backs on the ground.

Friend, the day you gave your life to Christ was the day you became a Jephthah. The old life you lived represents the harlot. It will take an understanding of what we are discussing in this meditation to get yourself free from the shackles of the past.

Everybody has a past and you must be ready to move past it for your life to have meaning.
