RULES FOR NAZARITES-3

RULES FOR NAZARITES-3
Judges 16:17 “That he told her all his heart, and said unto her, There hath not come a razor upon mine head; for I have been a Nazarite unto God from my mother’s womb: if I be shaven then my strength will go from me, and I shall become weak and be like any other man.”

…From yesterday…

Here are the restrictions placed on a Nazarite:

Judges 13:4 “Now therefor’e beware, I pray thee, and drink not wine nor strong drink, and eat not any unclean thing:

Judges 13:5 “For, lo, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son; and no razor shall come on his head: for the child shall be a Nazarite unto God from the womb: and he shall begin to deliver Israel out of the hand of the Philistines.”

We see three key things here: He must not take strong drinks, he must not eat an unclean thing and no razor must touch his head.

Why shouldn’t he take strong drinks?

Proverbs 31:4 “It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes strong drink:”

Proverbs 31:5 “Lest they drink and forget the law and pervert the judgment of any of the afflicted.”

When a believer begins to take strong drinks, he forgets the law. The law here is the word of God. The only thing that sustains the believer is the word. A believer without the word is completely powerless!

When you forget the word, faith becomes impotent, fear steps in and the devil goes ahead to torment you. Don’t ever let fear rule your decisions. Don’t give control of your life to the enemy.

A Nazarite must also not eat an unclean thing. I also want you to know that it is not an Old Testament thing, hear this:

2Corinthians 6:17 “Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,”

The unclean thing here includes: dishonor, hatred, foolishness, malice and so on; these are things we don’t touch!

Finally, no razor must touch his head. The hair of a Nazarite represents glory and protection (1Corinthians 11:15).

These restrictions were placed on the Nazarite for his own advantage; unfortunately, Samson violated them and became a puppet in the hand of the devil. Be warned!
