Judges 16:5 “And the lords of the Philistines came up unto her, and said unto her, Entice him, and see wherein his great strength lieth, and by what means we may prevail against him, that we may bind him to afflict him: and we will give thee every one of us eleven hundred pieces of silver.”
When Delilah enters your life, a door is opened for the “lords of the Philistines”. When you allow spiritual doors to be opened in your life consciously or unconsciously, you have created an inroad for the devil.
The strategy of the lords of the Philistine was very simply and clear enough; entice him, know where his strength lies, discover how to subdue him then we bind him.
The first thing they told Delilah to do however is to entice him. I have since discovered as a pastor that the “enticement” principle is the devil’s most successful assault against the church.
The word entice as used here is translated to mean: deceive, enlarge and flatter. This principle seems to be a very potent weapon against the believer.
To flatter means to compliment somebody to win favor. It is when you compliment somebody too much, often without sincerity, especially in order to gain an advantage.
It means to appeal to somebody’s vanity! To make somebody or something look good. It is a means whereby you make somebody or something seem better looking than in reality! It is the principle of deception.
Why am I laying emphasis on this?
Daniel 11:32 “And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong and do exploits.”
In the above scripture, we can see two forces here, the force of flattery and that of knowing. The devil has released the force of flattery against the church and it is working.
You discover nowadays that nobody want to be told they’re wrong. Everybody want to be pampered even when they’re wrong. People want their inadequacies, errors, bad attitudes and misbehaviours to be given kudos.
