Judges 16:4 “And it came to pass afterward, that he loved a woman in the valley of Sorek, whose name was Delilah.”
The truth is that the devil knows how to gold plate things and make them look attractive to you but our God doesn’t gold plate stuff, he gives golden things! Gold plated and golden are not the same, you must have the sensitivity to differentiate between the two.
Don’t ever let the things of the enemy which we’ve been instructed to stay away from be the very things you desire. Once you do this, you pitch yourself against God. Hear this:
James 4:4 “Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.”
Samson probably didn’t know this or he just chose to ignore. He crossed the line and paid dearly for it.
I once read a story about two fishes, a “mother” and her “child”. They were swimming one day and the younger one suddenly saw a giant earthworm floating as if fishes were not in the sea. The little fish rushed to grab and eat it but the mother stopped it. A few minutes later the earthworm just started rising and then vanished out of sight.
The mother fish then told her child that the earthworm was simply a bait on a hook. If the little fish had grabbed the earthworm, the fisherman would have drawn them out of the river together to her death.
Friend, the things of the enemy which men seriously desire are just like the earthworm been kept on the hook waiting for who will pounce. Samson didn’t see the hook so he went for the “bait” and ended his journey abruptly.
The word Sorek aside been a location in Philistine has a very interesting meaning. Sorek means the richest variety or choicest wine, a vineyard or in modern language a brewery!
So, put differently, Samson was in love with the brewery! A lover of strong drink is a lover of death. Hear this:
