LAST MAN STANDING
2Samuel 23:11 “And after him was Shammah the son of Agee the Hararite. And the Philistines were gathered together into a troop, where was a piece of ground full of lentiles: and the people fled from the Philistines.”

2Samuel 23:12 “But he stood in the midst of the ground, and defended it, and slew the Philistines: and the LORD wrought a great victory.”

In our focal scripture, one thing that really caught my attention is the courage of Shammah. I discovered that when the Philistines showed up everybody ran away leaving only him.

Beloved, I want you to know that many times in the journey of life and destiny, you will be alone! One thing many great leaders have in common is loneliness. I’m not talking about just physical loneliness but mental, emotional and even spiritual. There are battles you must just brace up and fight alone.

Most times you’ll be alone in your decisions. At such moments you must have the tenacity to stand your ground and the courage to stay on course.

Can you imagine what it took Jesus to stand his ground and communicate the good news to a dying world? Imagine Paul standing to defend and preach the name of Jesus among the gentiles and also to his formal colleagues.

Friend, a wise man said, “Heroes march alone; eagles are never seen in groups.” Your ability to stay alone with your convictions and believes determines how far you’ll go in life.

Others may give up and run but not you. Other may abandon their harvest and run but not you. Others can conspire and lie in your workplace but make up your mind to be the last man standing for the truth.

It is your ability to stand alone that determines the nature of the rewards that comes to you. Life has a way of bringing these personal battles, as examinations to our next level of promotion.

Shammah didn’t just became the last man standing, he became one of David’s generals and mighty men. When you win your personal battles, you’ll earn a reputation among the greats!

You are as rich and powerful as what you can conquer!
