RISE AND FIGHT
2Samuel 23:11 “And after him was Shammah the son of Agee the Hararite. And the Philistines were gathered together into a troop, where was a piece of ground full of lentiles: and the people fled from the Philistines.”

2Samuel 23:12 “But he stood in the midst of the ground, and defended it, and slew the Philistines: and the LORD wrought a great victory.”

Mike Murdock made a powerful statement, he said; “Warfare always surrounds the birth of a miracle”. There is nothing God has promised you that the enemy will not contest. He is our perpetual and unrepentant adversary. He opposes us continually and I want you to know that he’s not planning to stop.

The onus is therefore on us to either give in or to rise and fight. Note carefully from our focal scripture that the Israelites didn’t invite the enemy, neither did they call for harvesters to help, the Philistines just showed up.

Whatever interests God, attracts the devil’s attention as well. The fact that God has given you something doesn’t mean the devil will not try to wrestle it from you. Many a times God blesses us with things and then we lose it.

I want you to know that the showing up of the enemy indicates that your harvest is set. It also shows that what you’re doing has a divine ability and authorization to succeed. So, you don’t need to fret, just rise and fight.

You must however understand that your rising up to fight is not to defeat the devil but rather to keep him defeated! You are not fighting for victory but from victory. You’re simply standing your ground and resisting him. The devil is a defeated foe.

Christ has defeated him and given us victory.

Colossians 2:15 “And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.”

The fight is simply to stand upon the finished work of Christ and resist the devil. Our major occupation is to resist him:

James 4:7 “…Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”

Friend, fleeing means assisting the devil, so rise and resist him!
