2 Samuel 23: 11 “And after him was Shammah the son of Agee the Hararite. And the Philistines were gathered together into a troop, where was a piece of ground full of lentiles: and the people fled from the Philistines.”

When the enemy gather together into a troop, the people fled. I can imagine what happened that day. The enemy showed up and the people ran away.

The number one weapon of the enemy is what I call fear. Once the enemy can get you into the arena of fear, he has succeeded in destabilizing and demoralizing you. That the enemy showed up is not a reason for you to run away from the place where you have laboured!

Someone said “FEAR” simply means; False Evidence Appearing Real while somebody else said “FEAR” is Forsake Everything And Run! The question is this; What does it mean to you?

Five hundred years ago, Michel de Montaigne said; “My life has been filled with terrible misfortune; most of which never happened.” What she said has finally been proven to be true according to a Huffpost.

A research was carried out in which several people were asked to write down their fears and mark how many actually happened. It was discovered that 85% never happened, and with the 15% that did happen, 79% percent of the people discovered that either they could handle the difficulty better than expected, or the difficulty taught them a lesson worth learning.

That means in actual sense, 97% of what you worry over is not much more than a fearful mind punishing you with exaggerations and misperceptions. Fear induces worry and once your mind accepts it, you’re done for.

The armies of Israel were running from the same Philistines few years earlier when Goliath of Gath showed up. Hear this:

1Samuel 17:8 “And he stood and cried unto the armies of Israel, and said unto them, Why are ye come out to set your battle in array? am not I a Philistine, and ye servants to Saul? choose you a man for you, and let him come down to me.”
