DROP THAT GARMENT-2
Mark 10:50 “And he, casting away his garment, rose and came to Jesus.”

…From yesterday…

James 2:26 “For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.”

The word “works” here simply means corresponding action. You cannot claim you’re believing God for a car and you’re busy pricing motorbike!

You can’t be believing God for healing without making an attempt to rise. You cannot be believing God for harvest without putting seed in the ground.

Bartimaeus believed that Jesus was his all, whatever the Saviour can’t do for him should remain undone. He wasn’t shaky in his heart, he went all out after God and got his required miracle.

I saw a similar action in the story of Joseph:

Genesis 41:14 “Then Pharaoh sent and called Joseph, and they brought him hastily out of the dungeon: and he shaved himself, and changed his raiment, and came in unto Pharaoh.”

Although we were not told but I want to believe Bartimaeus must have heard this story from Bible experts of their day. You remember we once analysed that he must have made enquiries because he called Jesus the “Son of David”.

If you study Genesis 41:14 carefully you’ll realize a similar pattern. When Pharaoh sent for Joseph, he shaved himself, changed his garment and came; he never returned to the prison. When Jesus sent for Bartimaeus, he changed his garment as well and answered the call.

Another thing garment represents are covering and hindrances. The things we have built up for ourselves that we trust in and hold dare. Some people’s garment could be wisdom which they have acquired that is now preventing them from trusting Jesus and moving ahead in life.

Some people’s garment is the paid employment they currently have which is preventing them from becoming the business owner God has designed them to be. Some other people’s garment is their pride and arrogance which is preventing men from helping them.

Until you learn how to cast off such garments you’ll be limited in life. Remember Elisha?
