JINX BREAKER-1
Luke 1:59 “And it came to pass that on the eighth day they came to circumcise the child; and they called him Zacharias, after the name of his father.”

Luke 1:60 “And his mother answered and said Not so; but he shall be called John.”

Luke 1:61 “And they said unto her, There is none of thy kindred that is called by this name.”

Finally, the bundle of joy arrived; John the Baptist was born. So, as the custom demands, they were set to name him on the eight day but since his father couldn’t speak, they named him Zacharias after his father.

Those folks named the innocent boy Zacharias. The same priest who couldn’t speak. They don’t care if he repeats the errors of his father. They want his life and destiny to be patterned after the order of his dad. They want him to have the same experiences of delay and so on.

They were afraid of exploiting other names, they were satisfied with the norm. They wanted keeping the status quo intact but glory be to God, Elizabeth vehemently repelled the ploy. She stood her ground against the status quo. She made up her mind that her son would be different and fulfil his own destiny.

Beloved, you don’t need to follow the errors of the past. What stopped your progenitors does not have to stop you. You’re not wired to go the way of your fathers who came and didn’t live up to the expectations of God upon their lives. You must not allow the investment of God upon your life go unfulfilled.

Those family folks told Elizabeth that: “…There is none of thy kindred that is called by this name.” (Luke 1:61)

But like this woman, make up your mind that you will be the jinx breaker in your generation. That nobody has ever done something in your lineage does not mean you shouldn’t.

That nobody has been a multi-millionaire in your lineage shouldn’t be an excuse for you not to be. That people don’t go to higher institutions in your family shouldn’t stop you.
