TABOOS OF YOUR ASSIGNMENT-2
Luke 1:15 “For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother’s womb.”

…From yesterday…

One, he said, “…shall drink neither wine nor strong drink”. Why would God say this? Why was God particular about John not drinking wine or strong drinks?

Proverbs 31:4 “It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes strong drink:”

Proverbs 31:5 “Lest they drink and forget the law and pervert the judgment of any of the afflicted.”

Proverbs 31:6 “Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish and wine unto those that be of heavy hearts.”

No matter your assignment in life, this is a taboo you must consciously place upon your life. When you violate this order, you forget the law and toe the line of destruction. Not only that, you end up in mockery.

Proverbs 20:1 “Wine is a mocker strong drink is raging and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise”

Proverbs 20:1 “Wine makes men foolish, and strong drink makes men come to blows; and whoever comes into error through these is not wise.” (BBE)

Breaking this law is one of the attributes of a fool! Don’t let anything make a mockery of the gifts and investment of God upon your life. Don’t let what you put in your mouth lead you to ridicule.

The second taboo, placed upon John is that he must not operate without the Holy Ghost! Our focal scripture says “…and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost…”

Our current dispensation is that of the Holy Spirit! Jesus Christ our Saviour is the head of the church but the Holy Spirit is the God in the church. If you don’t have a relationship with Him, your Christian experience is not yet complete.

A life without the empowerment of the Holy Spirit, is a powerless, defeated and frustrated life. There are many things you need to do in life, of which your strength, skills, intelligence and experience are insufficient.
