Genesis 26:15 “For all the wells which his father’s servants had digged in the days of Abraham his father, the Philistines had stopped them, and filled them with earth.”

In the days of old, especially during famine, covering up a well is seen as an act of war. Water is said to be equivalent to life. Stopping a well is like trying to kill or snuff out life from people.

This act shows you the extent an envious man is ready to go. A man operating under envy is senseless and unreasonable. One would have thought they’ll seize the well from him rather than waste energy covering it up.

The Philistines themselves needed water but they’ll rather stop the wells of Isaac. Just like we had earlier discussed, historians and Bible scholars told us that they were covering up the wells not because of the water but because they couldn’t understand how Isaac was able to reap a hundredfold harvest during famine.

The covering of the wells further gives credence to the fact that they could not decode the business secret or strategy of Isaac. Bible scholars said, Isaac was using irrigation, which I also believe. The Philistines could not explain how his farm was green during famine but the only thing they noticed was that he was digging wells.

They were of the opinion that once they stop the wells, they’ll stop him from being successful.

Friend, the enemy is after your source! They want to stop you by stopping your wells. They want to take away your source of livelihood. An envious man can go ahead and formulate lies about you, instigate people against you, even attempt to kill you, his only thought is to stop you in life.

The good news however is this; their plans will not stand.

Isaiah 8:10 “Take counsel together, and it shall come to nought; speak the word, and it shall not stand: for God is with us.”

I want you to know that God is with you and for you. If they couldn’t stop Isaac, they can’t stop you!
