Genesis 26:13 “And the man waxed great and went forward and grew until he became very great”
Genesis 26:14 “For he had possession of flocks, and possession of herds, and great store of servants: and the Philistines envied him.”
Envy is a very dangerous character and it is one of the most common traits that has crashed many lives and destinies. It has moved men to commit crimes of unimaginable proportions. Envy has started wars and scattered families.
The most terrifying aspect of this character however is that many people acting under its control don’t know it. I’ve come to discover that several people that are envious don’t admit it, they easily put up a defense when you bring it to their notice.
An easy way to pick out envy is to watch people’s reaction when you share your success story with them. Anytime you share your story with your so called friend but rather than rejoice with you and thank God for you also have a similar testimony, you must be careful.
Each time somebody talks to you and you feel they’re proud, you must also check your heart. Are they really proud or are you becoming jealous?
In the agenda of God, He want our success to be great, noticeable and attractive such that men will see it and come into His Kingdom. Our success is meant to be an attraction for others to pursue God.
Isaac became very successful and his greatness became attractive, as a matter of fact he became richer than the whole country during famine. But rather than for the Philistines to come to him and find out how he did it they became envious.
Friend, once a man is making it, he simply knew something you don’t. It is not every rich man that is a thief! It is not everybody with a good car that stole money in the office. God still prospers people by giving them revelations and helping them.
You need not envy anybody, go after information. There is something they know which you don’t, ask questions!
