Genesis 26:12 “Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the LORD blessed him.”

…From yesterday…

This widow was probably thinking the prophet will just perform a miracle or call down manner from heaven but rather he gave her a very awkward instruction. He told her to go sow a seed!

1Kings 17:12 “And she said As the LORD thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but an handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse: and, behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die”

1Kings 17:13 “And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and do as thou hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring it unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son.”

1Kings 17:15 “And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah: and she, and he, and her house, did eat many days.”

She obeyed the man of God and of course she reaped her own version of a hundredfold. Nothing is impossible to a seed sower. It doesn’t matter the season, he commands harvest.

Remember that; seed is sowing what you have been given to create something else you have been promised. Isaac could have held back his seed like the Philistines but he decided to take a worthy risk during famine and he became a wealthy man.

Jesus himself was once confronted by a “massive famine”. He needed to feed five thousand men excluding women and children in the desert. It was a long way from town and the people were famished. He turned to his disciples for “a seed” but they didn’t understand him.

They eventually got a small boy’s lunch but didn’t understand the power of a seed until they were all fed with a lot of extras (Mark 6:35-44).

Isaac sowed in the land and reaped a hundredfold, friend, sow your way out of famine!
