INVOKE THE OATH-3
Genesis 26:3 “Sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee; for unto thee, and unto thy seed, I will give all these countries, and I will perform the oath which I sware unto Abraham thy father;”

…From yesterday…

David woke up one day and remembered the oath he made with Jonathan and decided to honour it. He asked for a blood relative of Jonathan so he can fulfil the oath and Mephibosheth was brought forward. Even though he was lame, he became the recipient of the oath without knowing anything about when it was consummated.

Friend that is who we are in Christ. We were not around when it was done but we can become recipients when we understand the principle. Mephibosheth knew nothing about the oath between his father and David but he became a beneficiary.

We were not around some two thousand years ago when Jesus came and died on the cross for you and I, but we are like Mephibosheth who are very much around to benefit from the oath.

Friend, this is why you must understand what you’re doing in the place of prayer. Hear this:

John 16:23 “And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.”

John 16:24 “Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask and ye shall receive that your joy may be full”

We don’t pray to Jesus, we pray to the Father in the name of Jesus to invoke the oath. We stand upon the word of God in the name of Jesus, that’s what activate the oath.

So prayer, praise, fasting, worship and other ordinances are simply meant to appropriate the price that has been paid for us. This is what makes Christianity powerful! This is what it means to stand and walk by faith.

Faith is believing in the finished work of Christ on Calvary. When we remind the Father of what has been done on our behalf we enjoy the dividends!
