FAMINE

FAMINE
Genesis 26:1 “And there was a famine in the land, beside the first famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went unto Abimelech king of the Philistines unto Gerar.”

Our focal scripture told us that there was famine in the land but we also see that it was not the first time this was happening. It has happened in the days of Abraham, long before Isaac was born.

I don’t mean to scare you but the truth is that if there was famine in the days of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Naomi, Elijah, Elisha and the like, famine will show up on earth from time to time.

Famine doesn’t just mean extreme food scarcity or a severe shortage of food resulting in widespread hunger. Dictionary also defines it as deficiency of something or a severe shortage of something. It is not just about food and water, it cuts across different spheres of our daily lives.

Famine could show up in lack of money or resources, shortage of capital, lack of health, lack of wisdom for a given task, lack of strength for a venture and so on. These are all famine and they are ever with us.

We may not be able to stop the famine from coming, but we have the capacity, divine grace and capability to handle it. The famine in the days of Abraham, Jacob, Joseph and the like didn’t consume them but rather promoted them and made them wealthy.

So also, the famine in the days of Isaac didn’t consume him but rather made him wealthy, I have news for you; the famine confronting you presently will not consume you. The famine around your life will lead to your promotion and progress in Jesus name.
Famine may not be a good thing, but God sure has a way of turning it around in our favour if we allow Him. The devil might cause a famine to discourage and frustrate our assignment and purpose but God always show Himself as Lord over all.

We must all know how to handle the famines that confront us!
