UNACCOMPLISHED MISSION-4
UNACCOMPLISHED MISSION-4
Ruth 1:7 “Wherefore she went forth out of the place where she was, and her two daughters in law with her; and they went on the way to return unto the land of Judah.”
Ruth 1:15 “And she said Behold, thy sister in law is gone back unto her people, and unto her gods: return thou after thy sister in law.”
…From yesterday…
The third reason I’ll like to discuss is what I call fear of the unknown.
3. FEAR OF THE UNKNOWN: Orpah like we saw earlier means an antelope and one basic characteristics of this animal is nervousness. One of the reasons why men are nervous is the fear of the unknown.
This extreme fear is called Xenophobia. This is a fear of anything that is beyond the comfort zone of a man. Being anxious for nothing! This is a situation where a man worries more about the things he assumes will happen or strange and foreign.
It is a paralyzing fear that make it practically impossible for a man to attempt or try anything new. Fear of the unknown is fear of what you do not know. A fear that keeps us within the confines of the known.
In history, we discovered that for hundreds of years man didn’t discover the Americas because of fear that if you sail too much towards the West you’ll fall off the earth because they believe the earth is flat like a table. If somebody had not ceased the initiative to try it probably the Americas will still be in the dark ages.
Friend, Naomi said, “…thy sister in law is gone back unto her people, and unto her gods…” Two familiar things that stopped Orpah are her people and her gods.
She was afraid of the people of Judah. She was not sure of the kind of people they are or will be to her. She was satisfied staying with her fellow Moabites and remain accursed! She was also ready to stick with her known gods, even though they can’t speak nor deliver her.
To be continued…
