ERRORS OF THE PAST
Ruth 1:3 “And Elimelech Naomi’s husband died and she was left and her two sons.”

4 “And they took them wives of the women of Moab; the name of the one was Orpah, and the name of the other Ruth…”

Elimelech eventually died leaving behind his wife and sons. He died but left behind a legacy of disobedience to God and His commandments especially not to intermingle or intermarry with the Moabites.

He might have told them not to marry a Moabite while alive because we can see from the above scriptures that they waited for him to die before taking wives from Moab.

Friend, it is one thing to say something and another to act accordingly. They were probably thinking: “If he truly doesn’t want us to marry a Moabite why did he come here to settle?”

Elimelech took a wrong path and he didn’t retrace his steps; unfortunately he set a wrong pace for his children. The path he travelled eventually consumed them. What he did in the past came and hunt down his children.

Beloved, you must be very careful of your actions today. Don’t sow seeds that will germinate of whose fruits you won’t want to partake. One of the reasons why we have history is so that we can learn and make adjustments.

Mahlon and Chilion didn’t just stay back in Moab like their father, they took it a step further by marrying from there and unfortunately, what stopped their father stopped them.

Friend, borrow wisdom from the past. Don’t be a victim of past errors. As a boss don’t victimize people because you were victimized. Don’t say because you didn’t get it cheap, others shouldn’t. You owe the people coming after you a good legacy.

I have seen several leaders getting into power because they hated a particular agenda of previous leaders only for them to start doing same.

Romans 15:4 “For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning…”

Beloved, learn from history, don’t repeat the errors of the past!
