1Samuel 17:46 “This day will the LORD deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee; and I will give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.”

…From yesterday…

Look at what David said next:

1Samuel 17:47 “And all this assembly shall know that the LORD saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle is the LORD’S, and he will give you into our hands.”

Each time I read this I just can’t help but smile. David is so witty, smart and spiritually intelligent. Let’s take a look at his statements carefully; “…And all this assembly shall know that the LORD saveth not with sword and spear…”

The question you ask yourself is this, was David carrying a sword? Of course we know from 1Samuel 17:38 & 39 that he has no sword on him. He had put it off before approaching Goliath. But when he started bragging, he was simply throwing up a challenge to God.

He was simply saying; “LORD you know I don’t have a sword and I’ve never used one before. You also know I have dropped the one I was given so come down and do something that has never been done on a war front before. Come down and show that if indeed you’re LORD of hosts, use the stone in my hand to kill this giant and prove you’re Lord of stones and the elements as well!”

That was what he was saying indirectly and God read it as such! God was probably thinking; “Look at this boy. He dropped sword and spear and picked stones, let me uphold his bragging.”

God loves to be challenged. He is not afraid of a fight.

Friend, what is that matter you’ve been told is impossible? What have they said can’t happen in your life again?

To be continued…
