THE LORD OF HOSTS-2
1Samuel 17:45 “Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied”

The LORD of hosts is a very interesting title of God, one that makes Him unique and different from every other god on earth. You need to know this about God and you will never be afraid anymore. This is a title even God loves to hear!

The LORD in capital letters talks about the entirety, totality and completeness of the Godhead. This is the full essence of God. It is what makes Him God. It is the combination of the Trinity. This is the full weight of the Divine, the very might of heaven and the strongest force in the entire universe.

LORD is the Master over all. The One that gives instruction that even the tiny mosquitoes obey. He is the One that nothing can disobey. When the LORD sends out a signal, the whole earth trembles. Mountains, sea, the heavens and everything created bows.

Things in heaven, on earth and underneath the earth do His bidding. He is the LORD of all and nothing created can disobey or conquer Him. David knew that much about God! I keep wondering what King Saul and the other soldiers knew about God. If you have shallow knowledge of this truth about God and you go into warfare, you’ll run and hide from Goliath.

LORD of hosts means that all created agencies and forces are under the leadership or dominion of our God, who made and maintains them all.

Genesis 2:1 “Thus the heavens and the earth were finished and all the host of them.”

Isaiah 45: 12 I have made the earth, and created man upon it: I, even my hands, have stretched out the heavens, and all their host have I commanded.

LORD of hosts expresses the might, almightiness and God’s great power.
