1Samuel 17:42 “And when the Philistine looked about and saw David, he disdained him: for he was but a youth, and ruddy, and of a fair countenance.”

…From yesterday…

Why did Joseph’s brothers hate him so much?

Genesis 37:2 “…Joseph, being seventeen years old, was feeding the flock with his brethren; and the lad was with the sons of Bilhah, and with the sons of Zilpah, his father’s wives: AND JOSEPH BROUGHT UNTO HIS FATHER THEIR EVIL REPORT.”

Joseph always show his father their shady deals. So each time they see him they see their own shame and character flaws. When men hate your uprightness, it’s an indication that the beauty of God upon you is showing forth, keep up the good work!

The end result of the enemy poking fun at you and ridiculing you is to make you develop an inferiority complex. Once you see yourself inferior to the enemy you lose the battle before it even started and worse off, you’ll run away from him.

The other soldiers all felt inferior to Goliath because he scorned them for forty solid days.

1Samuel 17:10 “And the Philistine said, I DEFY the armies of Israel this day; give me a man, that we may fight together.”

1Samuel 17:10 “And the Philistine said, I have PUT TO SHAME the armies of Israel this day; give me a man so that we may have a fight together.” (BBE) (Emphasis mine)

To defy a man is to scorn, shame or ridicule him. Before David showed up, Goliath had succeeded in scorning the other soldiers. He made them develop a low self-esteem of themselves.

Friend, listen carefully to the words of the enemy to know how to respond, not to panic. Don’t let his words intimidate you, he’s just trying to psychologically defeat you. When people scorn or mock you, it is not written on your face, so why take it to heart? You’re better than that!

Friend, don’t become a “grasshopper in your own eyes” (Numbers 13:33) even if the enemy call you one! Let their ridicule propel you to greatness!

Love you BiG
