1Samuel 17:42 “And when the Philistine looked about and saw David, he disdained him: for he was but a youth, and ruddy, and of a fair countenance.”

…From yesterday…

I’ve also seen fifty-year olds who still has both parents intact and alive who is finding it difficult to manage his wife. He doesn’t know what it means to manage his home and resources well.

Friend, learn what you need to learn fast and let God bring the needed opportunity that will launch you into greatness your way! Samuel was a youth in the temple and God bypassed Eli to discuss matters of great importance with him. Don’t let anybody use your youthfulness to disqualify you anymore. It is only youths that have strength and strength comes from knowledge!

The second thing Goliath saw was that David was ruddy. Ruddy means to be reddish or sun-tanned. Someone who has been beaten hard by the sun and whose colour has changed. In order words a workaholic!

I normally joke that if I was Goliath, I wouldn’t wait to fight David, I’ll just run away when such a young boy approach me to fight while great warriors and soldiers stayed back.

When you see a very small boy attempting what angels dread you should know he knows something most people don’t. The ruddiness shows that he has stayed long in the sun.

The reason why the other soldiers kept running away from Goliath was that they don’t want to get ruddy or sun tanned. They are always inside the house, eating and drinking. They ran away from the sun.

How do I know?

1Samuel 16:5 “And he said Peaceably: I am come to sacrifice unto the LORD: sanctify yourselves, and come with me to the sacrifice. And he sanctified Jesse and his sons, and called them to the sacrifice.”

1Samuel 16:10 “Again, Jesse made seven of his sons to pass before Samuel. And Samuel said unto Jesse, The LORD hath not chosen these.”

To be continued…
