PROPER DRESSING FOR WAR: HELMET-1

PROPER DRESSING FOR WAR: HELMET-1
1Samuel 17:38 “And Saul armed David with his armour, and he put an helmet of brass upon his head; also he armed him with a coat of mail.”

1Samuel 17:39 “And David girded his sword upon his armour, and he assayed to go for he had not proved it. And David said unto Saul, I cannot go with these; for I have not proved them. And David put them off him.”

…From yesterday…

In Ephesians 6:13-18, Apostle Paul vividly described to us the proper dressing of a child of God for the critical battles of life. It will interest you to know that Saul also dressed David in a similar manner but David couldn’t move.

Note also that Apostle Paul is also known as Saul, in order words, he understood and knows both sides of the coins well! So, if there is a man to listen to on dressing for war, he is well qualified.

Saul clothed David with three (3) critical things and you need to understand what they are so that whenever you’re putting them on, you’ll know you’re improperly dressed. These items are the helmet of brass, coat of mail and his sword.

The first one I want to talk about is the helmet. This item is typically been used to cover and protect the head. In the critical battles of life, one area that must be properly covered is your head.

The head is where your brain sits. It is the cardinal point of your thoughts, emotions and your will. You think and plan your strategies from there. Your head is where your soul resides.

Saul putting a helmet of brass on David simply means, he gave him his own thinking pattern. He borrowed David the wisdom of this world. But unfortunately that wisdom takes a man no-where. The pathetic thing however is that many of us keep going about with this same helmet.

The problem is that we were given this helmet immediately we step into the world.

To be continued…
