GOD IS ENOUGH-1
1Samuel 17:37 “…And Saul said unto David, Go and the LORD be with thee.”

1Samuel 17:38 “And Saul armed David with his armour, and he put an helmet of brass upon his head; also he armed him with a coat of mail.”

1Samuel 17:39 “And David girded his sword upon his armour, and he assayed to go for he had not proved it. And David said unto Saul, I cannot go with these; for I have not proved them. And David put them off him.”

I want to specially welcome you to the year 2019. It is the year of the Lord and it is Divine. It is a year where all you need is the Lord. God is awesome and He is all you need to travel the year and sail it without hitches.

In our focal scripture, Saul seems to get it right at first but then, the human nature and flesh in him quickly fought back as he decided to add something else to God.

He wished David well and sent him forth with the Divine, but I guess something in Saul fought back and he called David back to put his armour on him.

Friend, as you travel the journey of 2019, go with the Divine! Don’t let anything convince you otherwise. As a matter of fact, if you need any weapon, let the Divine choose it for you but I’m glad to let you know that God is enough.

I want you to begin the journey of 2019 with the full assurance of God’s presence traveling with you.

On studying this beautiful story in 1Samuel 17, I can’t but wonder at Saul. He placed on David his weapons and armour and sent him forth. If he truly believes in his armour and weapons, why didn’t he go against Goliath himself?

It simply means it takes more than physical weapons to confront the enemy. The armour and arms of the flesh may look attractive, heavy and great but note that they are insufficient for the race ahead.
