TURN AWAY-1
TURN AWAY-1
1Samuel 17:30 “And he turned from him toward another, and spake after the same manner: and the people answered him again after the former manner.”
Your success in life is greatly dependent on what you’re ready to turn away from and what you’re ready to turn to and embrace.
Every great man and woman at one time or the other have had cause to turn away from many things. David in our focal scripture turned away from Eliab towards other people who will fuel and fire up the flame of his dream.
Friend, what are you willing to walk away from? Many are keeping company with Eliabs; situation and circumstances that is keeping them down. Some have listened to Eliab for so long that they have become accustomed to a life of mediocrity.
Beloved, you must be ready to turn away from your past, from negative people, fear, sin, grumbling and so on. You don’t also just turn away, you must turn and embrace the future. Turn to courage and to people who will positively impact your destiny.
David knew this principle and exploited it to the fullest. Friend, go to the place where you’re celebrated not tolerated. Turn from your discouragers to your encouragers.
David turned away from Eliab and continued talking about his dream till the news got to Saul.
1Samuel 17:31 “And when the words were heard which David spake they rehearsed them before Saul: and he sent for him.”
Saul was the ladder David needed to climb into destiny. David needed Saul to sanction his dream of fighting Goliath but as long as he was facing Eliab it was impossible.
Friend, when you turn away from Eliab, Saul will give you a listening ear. Could it be that your Saul have been waiting while you’re still busy discussing with Eliab?
You can never meet Saul if you don’t walk away from Eliab! What makes walking away most times difficult is that some of the things you need to walk away from are things that gives us comfort.
