RUN THE ERRAND-1

RUN THE ERRAND-1
1Samuel 17:15 “But David went and returned from Saul to feed his father’s sheep at Bethlehem.”

1Samuel 17:17 “And Jesse said unto David his son, Take now for thy brethren an ephah of this parched corn, and these ten loaves, and run to the camp to thy brethren;”

1Samuel 17:18 “And carry these ten cheeses unto the captain of their thousand, and look how thy brethren fare, and take their pledge.”

Beloved, another secret to learn from David is service and honour. If you can’t serve and run errands for your father and for others as well, greatness will elude you.

There is no truly great man that is not a servant. The pathway to glory is service. The men who have passed through this planet leaving their footprint on the sand of time have been men who served others tirelessly.

We saw earlier on that before David was anointed in 1Samuel 16, he was summoned from the bush where he was with the sheep while all his seven brothers were at home.

God doesn’t use lazy people, I discovered from scriptures that most of the people He used greatly were all doing something. Consider Elisha for example:

1Kings 19:19 “So he departed thence, and found Elisha the son of Shaphat, who was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen before him, and he with the twelfth: and Elijah passed by him, and cast his mantle upon him.”

Twelve yoke of oxen is equivalent to twelve tractors in our day; that is no mean feat. That was where God picked Elisha the great prophet from. Same goes for Gideon, Peter, John, Paul and so on.

If you plan on becoming great in life then get about doing something. Bend your back and run errands. If you’re not used you’ll not be useful. Who are you serving? What errands are you running?

Joseph ran errand for Jacob and ended up as Prime Minister in Egypt against all odds. Saul ran errand for his father and ended up on the throne of Israel.

To be continued…
