DON’T FOLLOW A SAUL-4
DON’T FOLLOW A SAUL-4
1Samuel 17:13 “And the three eldest sons of Jesse went and followed Saul to the battle: and the names of his three sons that went to the battle were Eliab the firstborn, and next unto him Abinadab, and the third Shammah.”
1Samuel 17:14 “And David was the youngest: and the three eldest followed Saul.”
…From yesterday…
After getting directions, Mr. Graham invited the boy to his Crusade that evening. He told the boy that if he can come to the Crusade, he will hear him telling everyone how to get to heaven.
The boy was shocked and had a perplexed look on his face. He told Billy Graham point blank that he won’t be there. He said, “You don’t even know the way to the post office”.
Beloved, you must be sensitive to the kind of leader you follow in life. Jesus once admonished:
Matthew 15:14 “Let them alone they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.”
Once you follow a blind man, both of you will end up in the ditch. David refused to follow Saul emotionally, neither did he follow him because of title, money, food, position or popularity. You’ll discover these are some of the many reasons why people follow wrong leaders.
But, the young David knew something his brothers didn’t know. They didn’t know that Saul was already defeated!
Friend, don’t follow a mentally defeated man, you will end in defeat. Don’t follow men emotionally. Follow men and leaders who can connect you to purpose and destiny and help you become all God wanted you to become.
Don’t follow a leader with a small vision, he will keep you small. The day you dream bigger than him, he might scheme and conspire to kill you, as was the case with Joseph and his brothers (Genesis 37:20).
In the critical battles of life, follow “David”, a leader who has a future and who is ready to make sure you become your all for God!
