DON’T FOLLOW A SAUL-2
1Samuel 17:13 “And the three eldest sons of Jesse went and followed Saul to the battle: and the names of his three sons that went to the battle were Eliab the firstborn, and next unto him Abinadab, and the third Shammah.”

1Samuel 17:14 “And David was the youngest: and the three eldest followed Saul.”

1Samuel 17:15 “But David went and returned from Saul to feed his father’s sheep at Bethlehem.”

…From yesterday…

One thing everyone must master in the critical battles of life is the nature of the men you partner with. In our focal scripture the bible said something pathetic about the three eldest brothers of David.

The bible made us realize the three of them; Eliab the firstborn, and next unto him Abinadab, and the third Shammah followed Saul, as a matter of fact it was stated twice in our focal scriptures.

Interestingly, David left Saul! He did not follow Saul neither did he follow his brothers. To understand this very well, let’s take a look at these scriptures:

1Samuel 16:21 “And David came to Saul, and stood before him: and he loved him greatly; and he became his armourbearer.”

1Samuel 16:22 “And Saul sent to Jesse, saying Let David, I pray thee, stand before me; for he hath found favour in my sight.”

1Samuek 17:7 “And the staff of his spear was like a weaver’s beam; and his spear’s head weighed six hundred shekels of iron: and one bearing a shield went before him.”

Friend, long before the battle, David had a very good relationship with Saul. Remember he was the one that always use music to cast out “demons” from the king and after a while Saul promoted him and he became his armour bearer.

In 1Samuel 17:7, we saw the armour bearer of Goliath going ahead of him to battle. The armour bearer is someone very close to the warrior or general as the case maybe. It is a very important position and many people cherish it.
