NEW BEGINNING-1
1Samuel 17:12 “Now David was the son of that Ephrathite of Bethlehemjudah, whose name was Jesse; and he had eight sons: and the man went among men for an old man in the days of Saul.”

1Samuel 17:14 “And David was the youngest…”

We see from our focal scriptures that David was the eighth born or youngest son of Jesse. What normally baffles me in the story is that it was David, the youngest son who was left alone in the bush with the sheep and the beasts.

It seems unfair but then he eventually became the king of Israel and the leader of the entire clan. David was the eight born and I come to discover it was not an accident.

In bible numerology, eight (8) is the number of new order, new beginning, resurrection and regeneration. We have several examples of this in the bible, for example, after the flood, God started a new human race with eight people headed by Noah.

Genesis 7:13 “In the selfsame day entered Noah, and Shem, and Ham, and Japheth, the sons of Noah, and Noah’s wife, and the three wives of his sons with them, into the ark”

God also made eight covenants with Abraham and also circumcision took place on the eighth day (Genesis 17:12).

However, the resurrection of Christ which took place on the eight day is the ultimate new beginning. Before I sound heretic, Jesus rose up on the third day after crucifixion which coincidentally is on a Sunday. Hear this:

Luke 24:1 “Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared and certain others with them.”

Luke 24:2 “And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre.”

Luke 24:3 “And they entered in and found not the body of the Lord Jesus.”

Sunday is the first day of the new week. Saturday happens to be the seventh day of the week which is the Sabbath.
