BECOME A MAN-3

BECOME A MAN-3
1Samuel 17:8 “And he stood and cried unto the armies of Israel, and said unto them, Why are ye come out to set your battle in array am not I a Philistine, and ye servants to Saul? choose you a man for you, and let him come down to me.”

…From yesterday…

To understand God’s concept of a man, we will take a microscopic look at the life of David and pick some lessons from there. These lessons will show us God’s definition and qualities of a man that we can imbibe.

1Samuel 16:12 “And he sent and brought him in Now he was ruddy, and withal of a beautiful countenance, and goodly to look to. And the LORD said Arise anoint him: for this is he.”

The first thing we noticed about David is that, he was “ruddy”. To be ruddy means he was reddish or suntanned. A man that is ruddy is a man that has stayed long under the heat of the sun. A man that has been beaten and hardened by the scorching rays of the sun. In order words, he is a hard worker.

David became ruddy by staying under the hot sun with his father’s sheep. He took care of them through thick and thin. He stayed with them, smell like them and cater for them. His father’s business was his business.

While he was busy under the sun, his beloved elder brothers were busy relaxing under the shade in their father’s house but God was watching. God was busy taking notes to determine who becomes a man.

Friend, God is still looking for “ruddy” properties that can qualify you for greatness. How hard working are you? Can you bend your back and focus on your assignment? Are you serving or are you been served? Are you embracing the work or dodging it?

A man that will defeat the “Goliaths” of this world must be ready to give it the required hard work. Laziness won’t get the job done!
