BECOME A MAN-2
1Samuel 17:8 “And he stood and cried unto the armies of Israel, and said unto them, Why are ye come out to set your battle in array am not I a Philistine, and ye servants to Saul? choose you a man for you, and let him come down to me.”

1Samuel 17:10 “And the Philistine said I defy the armies of Israel this day; give me a man, that we may fight together.”

…From yesterday…

God didn’t just call David “a man”, He calls him a man after his own heart. The devil knew that it will take a man to do a man’s job and he went round the camp of the armies of Israel and couldn’t find a single man, so he released Goliath to go harass them.

When “a man” is absent in a place, the devil will harass people there and have a field day. The Hebrew word for man as used here is translated to mean “champion” amongst other things, so the devil took time to prepare Goliath as his own champion but unfortunately for him, God was also preparing his own champion in the bush.

The wisdom of God is infinite. He doesn’t prepare his men in the comfort of the palace or house. He takes them to the backside of life and build them.

While all the soldiers were going through the rigors of military training using technology, human defined strategies and tactics; God was busy using a “bush” and wilderness experience to prepare his own man.

The question is this: If God calls David a man after His own heart, how did he prepare David? How did David attain this feat? What are the characteristics of somebody who God can call a man?

To understand God’s concept of a man, we will take a microscopic look at the life of David and pick some lessons from there. These lessons will show us God’s definition and qualities of a man that we can imbibe.
