1Samuel 17:36 “Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he hath defied THE ARMIES OF THE LIVING GOD.”

…From yesterday…

In critical battles and warfare of life, take time to listen and scrutinize the words of your enemy carefully. Two things David deduced from the words of Goliath are:

a) Goliath called Saul’s men the armies of Israel. The truth is that they were not armies of Israel. Israel was long dead and buried, they were the armies of the LIVING GOD whom Israel served. Israel was dead but His God is still very much alive, around and well!

b) Goliath also cursed David by his gods. David knew the gods of Goliath were dead. He knew those gods were made from wood, iron, gold and silver by the hands of men (that was why he mentioned it in Psalms 135:15-17).

David also knew something very interesting; “They that make them are like unto them: so is every one that trusteth in them.” (Psalms 135:18).

In order words David knew that Goliath is just like his gods! Goliath is like an idol; dead and stagnant. When he looked at Goliath, he was seeing wood, iron and silver. He saw a dead Goliath who is only just moving his mouth awaiting judgment and burial!

Friend, these are truths you should know about your enemies. How do you see them? What is your impression of that altar, charm, enchantment and the cult been used to harass you? Do you see them as mere irons and wood?

Much more, how do you see your God? Jehovah Himself. Do you know He is alive; living and active? Do you know He doesn’t change? Do you know He lives in you?

Beloved, our God is the Great Deliverer. The One that has no equal. The One that is mighty in battle. The One that created both the warrior and his weapons. The One who has been, still is and will always be!
