OLD AND NEW-1

OLD AND NEW-1
Luke 7:14 “And he came and touched the bier: and they that bare him stood still And he said Young man, I say unto thee, Arise”

Today, we are still discussing along the concept of “young man”. We saw in previous meditations that Jesus called him young man before he brought him back to life rather than call him dead man. He was actually dead but he later came back to life.

Friend, the truth is this, there are things you must “die to” in order for you to live! In life, there are things that must die before new ones can emerge. Hear this:

John 12:24 “Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die it abideth alone: but if it die it bringeth forth much fruit.”

Until Jacob died, we didn’t see Israel. Abram had to give way to Abraham. Benoni had to die for Benjamin to come alive. Simon had to give way to Peter. Oshea became Joshua.

Numbers 13:16 “These are the names of the men which Moses sent to spy out the land. And Moses called Oshea the son of Nun Jehoshua.”

We have other instances of name change in the bible.

This dead man becoming the young man that rose from death is a picture of our being born again and living the Christian life.

There was a who Israel was that has been buried in Esau and Jacob
Let God call you your real name

Ephesians 2:5 “Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, by grace ye are saved”

Colossians 2:13 “And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;”

Beloved, this is a process we went through as believers before our new nature emerged. Note that we were dead in sin but Christ raised us back to life after forgiving our sins and gave us a new nature and a new identity.

To be continued…
