EMPATHY-1
Luke 7:13 “And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said unto her, Weep not.”

The word used for compassion here is not talking about pity, it actually means to empathize. Pity and sympathy are actions been normally demonstrated by men.

Sympathy means a feeling of sadness because of another person’s trouble or suffering, or the capacity to feel sad about the negative plight of others.

The word compassion as used here takes pity to a different dimension which we normally don’t want to go. It is the word empathy.

Empathy is the understanding of another’s feelings, associating with it and doing something about it. It is the ability to identify with, and understand somebody else’s feelings or difficulties and stepping in to do something positive to change it.

It is an inward affection and demonstration of tender mercy. Several people followed this woman “…and much people of the city was with her.” (Luke 7:12). She had “much people with her” but only one truly empathized with her.

The reason why many people are in dire situations is probably because the people around them are simply pitying them. You need empathizers around you. Men who don’t just know how you’re feeling but rather ready to do something about it. Everywhere Jesus went he had compassion which always propel him to action.

Matthew 20:34 “So Jesus had compassion on them, and touched their eyes: and immediately their eyes received sight and they followed him.”

Friend, God is a compassionate God and if there is anything He expects from us, it is the demonstration of compassion. This is an attribute that makes us godlike. Hear this:

Matthew 5:7 “Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy”

The reason why many people don’t get empathy from God and from others is simply because they themselves don’t demonstrate it. You may say its money they need and I don’t have to give, but can’t you support them in prayers?

How much will that cost you financially? You don’t need cash to pray for another!
