THE GATE-2
Luke 7:12 “Now when he came nigh to the gate of the city, behold there was a dead man carried out the only son of his mother, and she was a widow: and much people of the city was with her.”

…From yesterday…

In summary, gates amongst other things represents; judgment, witness, communion, agreement and power. Demonic forces knew this fact and they tend to hijack the gates of cities, businesses, towns, countries, organization and so on.

What has this got to do with our devotional and with us today?

Luke 7:12 “Now when he came nigh to the gate of the city, behold there was a dead man carried out…”

The coming of Jesus to the gate of this city at this time was not ordinary, it was not a casual meeting at all. It was a deep spiritual battle and warfare.

Jesus came to the gate and he met a dead man. Jesus is life, light and God but he got to the gate and all he met was the devil, who is death and darkness. This encounter was a meeting between powers. Life coming face to face with death.

At this gate a demonic decision and agreement was already made in the life of the young man and her mother. Death has been passed on this young man and the verdict had already taken it’s toll on his life. The boy was dead and the woman had become childless.

Even though we were not told in the bible, I want to believe there was a day they carried her husband to the gate dead as well, since we were told she was a widow. A decision of death was already passed on her husband at the gate as it were.

The only difference between these two days (the day they buried her husband and the day they were planning to bury her son) was that; on this particular day, death stood face to face with Life!

Not just life but resurrection as well, Hallelujah!
