POWER IN THE WORD-1
POWER IN THE WORD-1
Luke 7:7 “Wherefore neither thought I myself worthy to come unto thee: but say in a word, and my servant shall be healed”
This centurion may be a Gentile but I’ve come to submit that he understood Kingdom principles much more than several professing believers.
When Jesus was on his way to his house, he sent a rather “awkward message” to him. He said there was no point for Jesus to come again but rather he should just speak a word and his servant would be healed. He saw himself as unworthy but he knew something most self-acclaimed “worthy” people don’t; he knew the power in the spoken word!
This centurion seems to know what happened at the beginning of creation. I want to believe he must have read portions of the bible or must have been asking questions from the elders when he finished building the synagogue.
Friend, when God wanted to create the whole heaven and earth, he had only one resource; the Word! There were no banks where He could go borrow capital to create and start the “Earth Venture”, all that was available to Him was the Word and it was enough. I guess the centurion must have reasoned that if the Word produced all we have now, both visible and invisible then it must suffice to heal his servant.
I want to also presume he knew the personality of Jesus as the Word. I guessed he must have also heard them read this scripture:
Psalms 107:20 “He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.”
That guy sure knew things even the elders knew nothing about. No wonder he made Jesus marvel. He knew the greatest open secret of all time that; all we need is the Word, no more no less.
You don’t need any sacrifices, no charms, no amulet, no begging or pleading, just the Word. How I wish you don’t just know this truth but believe it in its entirety. Hear this:
