THE BUILDER-1

THE BUILDER-1
Luke 7:4 “And when they came to Jesus, they besought him instantly, saying That he was worthy for whom he should do this:”

Luke 7:5 “For he loveth our nation, and he hath built us a synagogue.”

Luke 7:6 “Then Jesus went with them…”

In our previous meditations, we saw how the elders came to Jesus on behalf of the centurion, but today let’s see the reasons they gave Jesus. They told Jesus that the centurion loved their nation and secondly, he built them a synagogue.

Friend, do you genuinely love God and the things of God? Do you love your job, career or business? Do you love your church? Without genuine love, you cannot give your very best to whatever you do.

Your nation could be your country, your location or occupation. Let love be a motivation for whatever you do. The centurion was not a Jew but because he found himself in their country, he made it a home and gave it his all.

Beloved, it’s high time you fall in love with your employer. If you hate your job change it. Find something you love to do and do it. Even God Himself loved us so much and gave us His best, in the person of Jesus. (John 3:16).

This centurion loved the Jewish nation and that love propelled him to build them a synagogue. This centurion was a builder. He was an architect of a whole nation.

Friend, in case you’re wondering if you should go build a church or synagogue as well, I’ll say yes! But not just physical structures, remember, our bodies are buildings of the Holy Spirit.

1Corinthians 6:19 “What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?”

The word “build” as used in our focal scripture is from a Greek word which is translated as “to construct” and to “edify”. In order words, this man didn’t just build a physical structure, he edifies the nation as well.

To be continued…
