SIT ON THE STONE

SIT ON THE STONE
Exodus 17:12 “But Moses’ hands were heavy; and they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat thereon; and Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side…”

When Moses’ hands became very heavy, the first thing Aaron and Hur did for him was to get a stone for him to sit on. A stone represents the word of God, the person of Jesus and also the church.

1Corinthians 10:4 “And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them and THAT ROCK WAS CHRIST.”

In order words, they gave him the word and took him to church. As a pastor, I’ve come to realize that the reason why many people come to church is because they have tried other options and alternatives without results so they use the church as the last point of call.

They have problems and they don’t even bother getting a stone. They rather chose to consult some oracles, spiritualist and even science before consulting God. That was not the case of these guys, Jesus was there first point of call. Remember what he said:

Matthew 11:28 “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden and I will give you rest”

Matthew 11:28 “”Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest.”(MSG)

When tired, worn out, burn out or feeling stupid, rush to the rock. Jesus will not just give you rest, he’ll take over the battle from you. No wonder all through the book of Psalms, David was always talking about the rock.

Psalms 28:1 “Unto thee will I cry O LORD my rock…”

Psalms 95:1 “O come let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation.”

We sure do have access to the same Rock, his name is Jesus Christ!
