Exodus 17:10 “So Joshua did as Moses had said to him, and fought with Amalek: and Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill.”
Exodus 17:11 “And it came to pass, when Moses held up his hand…”
Colossians 3:2 “Don’t shuffle along, eyes to the ground, absorbed with the things right in front of you. Look up, and be alert to what is going on around Christ–that’s where the action is. See things from his perspective.” (MSG)
Paul like Moses understood this principle so well. He knew unless we set our mind on things from above, raising our thoughts to the standard of heaven we will never win or rather enjoy the victory that Christ has already given us.
So, how do I rise above the enemy and keep winning?
John 3:31 “He who comes from above is above all; he who is of the earth is earthly and speaks of the earth. He who comes from heaven is above all.”
Jesus clarified this for us by the way he lived his life and comport himself while he was on earth. The reason men had issues with him so much was his above mindset. Everything he did was contrary and antithesis to the system of the world.
He came with a mentality that was strange and completely parallel to that of the world. His teachings were strange and different from that of even the Pharisees and teachers of the law, but those are the things that made him rise and live above them. Hear him:
Matthew 5:43 “Ye have heard that it hath been said Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.”
Matthew 5:44 “But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;”
That’s a very difficult thing to do in our modern day, as it was back then.
