6. AN UPRIGHT HEART
Psalms 7:10 “My defence is of God, which saveth the upright in heart.”

To be upright simply means to be righteous and eschewing evil. It means having a moral character to stand by what God stands by. If God says something is wrong you see it as such. An upright man is a man of truth and integrity who doesn’t say “A” when he actually mean to say “B”.

7. A COURAGEOUS HEART
Joshua 1: 6 “Be strong and of a good courage for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them.”

Joshua 1: 7 “Only be thou strong and very courageous that thou…mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest”

The day I understood courage was the day I was in a Zoo and came very close to a lion. I saw the way it devoured its food and roared and I couldn’t stop thinking and wondering how David at probably seventeen years of age or less could take-on a lion and then Goliath.

God wanted to travel far with Joshua but he couldn’t do so until he pumped him up with courage. God does not work with the fearful and doubtful. He checks for courage in our hearts.

8. A GRATEFUL HEART
Psalms 138:1 “I will give You thanks with all my heart; I will sing Your praise before the heavenly beings.” (HCSB)

Psalms 9:1 “I will praise thee, O LORD, with my whole heart; I will shew forth all thy marvellous works”

God will always be on the side of a man who praises Him always. Grateful heart qualifies you for selection.
