Exodus 17:9 “And Moses said unto Joshua, Choose us out men, and go out fight with Amalek: to morrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of God in mine hand.”

Our focal scripture introduces us to a man called Joshua. This was the first time his name is being mentioned. Prior to this time nobody knew him; he was not given any assignment, he didn’t play any significant role. Even though he was among the traveling multitude he was not reckoned with.

However, immediately the Amalekites came, Joshua entered the scene! Friend, I know you don’t like enemies and will do everything possible to avoid them but listen to me; your progress in life will be hampered without the presence of an enemy.

Enemies are divine announcers of our destiny. When an enemy step into your life, it is an indication that you’re about to step into the fulfilment of your purpose or about to be promoted.

We didn’t hear of Joshua till the enemies show up. David didn’t ascend the throne despite being anointed until Goliath showed up. Joseph would have remained a “dreamer” in his father’s house until his brothers became his enemies. Samson would have remain anointed in his father’s house until the Philistines came calling. The same goes for Gideon.

Likewise, you may remain at the same spot until your enemies show up! I must however shed some light here before you start taking anybody that disagrees with you as an enemy. The enemies we are talking about does not necessarily need to be a human, for many their enemies have showed up but they didn’t know.

An enemy could show up in your life in form of poverty, sickness, depression, hatred, demonic oppression and the like. Abraham didn’t become the father of faith until his enemy showed up in form of bareness.

We never knew the woman of Samaria was a powerful Evangelist until her enemies showed up in form of prostitution and jumping from one man’s house to another.

To be continued…
