Exodus 17:8 “Then came Amalek, and fought with Israel in Rephidim.”

…From yesterday…

Amos 6:1 “Woe to them that are at ease in Zion…”

Matthew 13:25 “But while men slept his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way”

Considering these two scriptures, we’ll discover some dangers in a man taking a spiritual nap. When we are not making progress and going about our assignment, we have let down our spiritual guards and created an inroad for the enemy into our lives.

We have several examples of this in the bible.

2Samuel 11:1 “And it came to pass, after the year was expired, at the time when kings go forth to battle, that David sent Joab, and his servants with him, and all Israel; and they destroyed the children of Ammon, and besieged Rabbah. But David tarried still at Jerusalem.”

2Samuel 11:2 “And it came to pass in an eveningtide, that David arose from off his bed, and walked upon the roof of the king’s house: and from the roof he saw a woman washing herself; and the woman was very beautiful to look upon.”

We cannot talk about the great King David without mentioning Bathsheba. The entrance of this woman into the life of David came at a time of spiritual slumber. David went to “Rephidim” when he was supposed to be at battle.

Note carefully, he was in bed from morning till evening and he arose just about the time this woman was taking her bathe. What a demonic timing!

Since, the king didn’t go to war at the time when “kings go to war”, one would have expected him to be making warfare on his knees to support his soldiers, but he was both physically and spiritually asleep.

Unfortunately for him, the devil fought him at Rephidim and it was very “bloody”. If David had been at the place of assignment he wouldn’t have sighted the woman. Are you at Rephidim?

Beloved, it is dangerous to drink and move to Rephidim, don’t be caught napping!
