PITFALL 3: MEDIOCRITY-3

PITFALL 3: MEDIOCRITY-3
Job 18:10 “The snare is laid for him in the ground, and a trap for him in the way.”

Colossians 3:23 “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as though you were working for the Lord and not for people.” (GNT)

…From yesterday…

We can see from Hebrews 11:4 that one thing that made Abel’s sacrifice acceptable is the fact that what He brought to God was excellent. That sacrifice was so excellent that even after he (Abel) died, the excellent seed made it possible for him to keep speaking.

We must note that this account was the first time man offered something to God. Abel’s offering was accepted while Cain’s own was rejected. This shows that God will not lower His standard to accept just anything from our hands. Excellence is a quality we must all develop if we want to always attract the attention of our Creator!

Why do men settle for Mediocrity?

1. THE DEVIL
We must know that the devil is our adversary who once lived in heaven. He knew that everything about God is excellent. A God who decided to use gold as asphalt for the road must definitely be addicted to excellence.

Here is the strategy of the enemy:

Exodus 8:28 “And Pharaoh said I will let you go that ye may sacrifice to the LORD your God in the wilderness; only ye shall not go very far away intreat for me.”

The devil has no problem with you, as long as you do things haphazardly. Pharaoh here told the children of Israel that they can go and worship God as long as they don’t go all the way. Don’t go “very far” is a mediocre approach to things.

As long as you won’t do things wholeheartedly the devil is not bothered. Friend, if you will serve God, serve Him with everything in you and apply the same principle to every other area of your life. You must develop a mentality of giving whatever you touch your best shot.

To be continued…
