PITFALL 2: SELF-CONDEMNATION-2

…From yesterday…

I have seen men become drunkards and wasted because they could not forgive themselves for a past mistake. Mistakes such as stealing, injuring another, rape, divorce and so on. I have seen ladies refusing to forgive themselves for living a wayward life of prostitution, abortion and such vices.

Most people eventually end up carrying a heavy load of guilt around and in worst case scenarios even commit suicide.

A typical biblical example is the man Judas Iscarriot. Bible history says he was about the closest person to Jesus based on their place of birth. He was more or less from the same town with Jesus; some even say he was a distance relative but he was used by the enemy to betray Jesus.

Matthew 26:47 “And while he yet spake lo Judas, one of the twelve, came and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and elders of the people.”

Matthew 26:48 “Now he that betrayed him gave them a sign, saying Whomsoever I shall kiss that same is he: hold him fast”

Matthew 26:49 “And forthwith he came to Jesus, and said Hail master; and kissed him.”

Judas used what is called the “kiss of death” to sell and betray his master. His insatiable hunger for wealth was what the enemy capitalized upon. Judas was consumed by the love of money which is another pitfall but what happened thereafter was worse.

Matthew 27:3 “Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned repented himself and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders,”

Matthew 27:4 “Saying I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said What is that to us? see thou to that.”

Matthew 27:5 “And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed and went and hanged himself”
