PITFALL 1: DEALING WITH PRIDE-7
Job 18:10 “The snare is laid for him in the ground, and a trap for him in the way.”

…From yesterday…

I normally call this the Elijah syndrome. The great prophet went to God one day and told God, he is very “indispensable” so to say. He said he was the only one doing God’s work but felt he was not treated well enough by God!

He expected God to jump down from heaven because “God’s only man on earth” was in trouble. He thought he can hold God to ransom but guess the response of God:

1Kings 19:18 “Yet I have left me seven thousand in Israel, all the knees which have not bowed unto Baal, and every mouth which hath not kissed him.”

It will shock you to know that, the job you know so well and felt indispensable at, has got about seven thousand other people who can probably do it better that you. Elijah left and Elisha came and did double of every miracle he did. The only indispensable entity is God Almighty, let that sink in deep into you.

I once heard the story of some women on a chartered flight. During the flight the pilot suddenly drop dead and it seems all hope of survival was lost. A crash seems inevitable until one of the women summoned up courage. She pulled out the dead pilot from the cockpit and took charge.

She communicated with the control tower and they guided her till she was able to land the airplane safely. If you have asked the pilot before the plane took off, he’ll probably have said he’s the main man onboard and so indispensable but God showed that he can sure use anyone or anything to achieve his purpose.

Remember, God used a donkey, the jaw bone of an ass and even a rod to carry out uncommon feats.

Jesus even said God can raise and use stones in the place of man. Stay humble!
