PITFALL 1: DEALING WITH PRIDE-6
Job 18:10 “The snare is laid for him in the ground, and a trap for him in the way.”

…From yesterday…

Philipians 3:6 “a fiery defender of the purity of my religion, even to the point of persecuting Christians; a meticulous observer of everything set down in God’s law Book.”

Philipians 3:7 “The very credentials these people are waving around as something special, I’m tearing up and throwing out with the trash–along with everything else I used to take credit for. And why? Because of Christ.”

Philipians 3:8 “Yes, all the things I once thought were so important are gone from my life. Compared to the high privilege of knowing Christ Jesus as my Master, firsthand, everything I once thought I had going for me is insignificant–dog dung. I’ve dumped it all in the trash so that I could embrace Christ” (MSG)

When some folks thought they were better than everyone else and even kept intimidating others in the church. Paul brought out his own Curriculum Vitae (CV) to shut them down. He also showed them how he had shredded and dumped his own CV because of Christ.

Friend, the people you’re thinking are inferior to you might actually be far better than you. Paul had qualifications the Pharisees only dream of, yet he remained humble. Don’t let people humble you and actually show you how inferior you are before you become humble! I suggest you maintain a calm and humble nature.

ii. The belief that you are indispensable
This is another terrible belief. I have seen several people fall into this trap and ended up running out of circulation. Many died or got relegated to the background. Hear this:

Romans 12:3 “For I say through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think but to think soberly according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.”
