PITFALL 1: DEALING WITH PRIDE-5
Job 18:10 “The snare is laid for him in the ground, and a trap for him in the way.”

Proverbs 8:13 “To fear the LORD is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech.” (NIV)

4. CHANGE ALL YOUR WRONG BELIEFS
The last point I’ll like to drop with you as we round up this meditation on dealing with pride is changing your wrong beliefs. I will also like to discourse it by considering some wrong beliefs which are actually pride related:

i) The belief that you are better than others
Many have this erroneous belief that they are better than every other person. I call this a superiority complex. This belief makes many develop a pompous attitude. You get somewhere and feel you must be treated better than every other human.

This kind of people treat others as lesser humans and they even bring this kind of ungodly attitude to the church. Well, if you’re in this category, you’re just an arrogant fellow treading a dangerous path. However, I have news for you:

Galatians 3:28 “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.”

Galatians 3:28 “In Christ’s family there can be no division into Jew and non-Jew, slave and free, male and female. Among us you are all equal. That is, we are all in a common relationship with Jesus Christ.” (MSG)

This feeling or belief is not something new. Paul had to deal with such folks in the early church as well but trust him, he put them in their rightful place.

He humbled them by letting them as well as letting us know that in Christ, there is no division. We are all one and must all get that into our head. Hear this:

Philipians 3:5 “a legitimate birth, circumcised on the eighth day; an Israelite from the elite tribe of Benjamin; a strict and devout adherent to God’s law;”
