PITFALL 1: DEALING WITH PRIDE-3
Job 18:10 “The snare is laid for him in the ground, and a trap for him in the way.”

Proverbs 8:13 “To fear the LORD is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech.” (NIV)

…From yesterday…

Don’t you ever think too highly of yourself, God is superior to us. All that we have and hope to have we owe to our Heavenly Father. It doesn’t matter who you are, He is the potter and you’re still the clay!

I was teaching in church recently and I made a statement that looked a bit controversial. I said, “One of the reasons why we as humans don’t put God in proper perspective is that He is too consistent!”

The Bible says, “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8). That’s the issue. He has never changed. God has been giving us oxygen, water, rain, food, animals and plants, right from the inception of this planet. He has been so consistent about it.

Imagine if God decide to suspend the oxygen for ten seconds? Stop the rain and drain all the water from this planet for one month? Allow us to feel the impact of the rotation of the earth for twenty four hours?

It is better imagined than experienced, in fact it is better not imagined! Our world will disappear into thin air if God decided to even slumber and sleep for one night. This thought alone should keep pride and arrogance out of our lives.

If we can maintain this perspective about God, we will be able to maintain a level head.

3. BE READY TO BURY YOUR EGO
Friend, we must all make up our minds to remain humble in our own eyes. It is a terrible thing for God to humble a man. As a matter of fact it is a wrong prayer for you to ask God to humble you.

If you have studied the story of Pharaoh you’ll understand what it means to bury your ego rather than allow God humble you.
