PITFALL 1: DEALING WITH PRIDE-2
Job 18:10 “The snare is laid for him in the ground, and a trap for him in the way.”

Proverbs 8:13 “To fear the LORD is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech.” (NIV)

…From yesterday…
Here are some further questions:

iv) Do I have difficulty in appreciating what others have done, especially when it seems as if it was better than mine?

v) When you’re constructively criticized, did you resent it because you feel your ego has been offended?

vi) Have you ever become jealous and envious when someone out-did or out-distanced you, or was promoted and commended ahead of you?

vii) Can you apologize if you discover that the position/opinion you had previously held on a matter was wrong?

Friend, a very sincere answer to those questions will really show if there is pride in you or not. If only we can allow the cross-examination of God just like David, we can easily nip pride at the bud.

2. PUT GOD IN PROPER PESPECTIVE
Another way to deal with pride is by putting God in the proper perspective. When you have a distorted view of God, you become arrogant and proud.

Friend, God is not your mate or errand boy. You must give Him all the glory and honour due unto Him. God is far superior to us. That he has come down to our level and even compressed Himself to stay inside us does not make Him a tool in our hands. No matter how you look at it, He is still our maker and creator.

Isaiah 29:16 “They turn everything upside down. Which is more important, the potter or the clay? Can something you have made say, “You didn’t make me”? Or can it say, “You don’t know what you are doing”?”

Don’t you ever think too highly of yourself, God is superior to us. All that we have and hope to have we owe to our Heavenly Father. It doesn’t matter who you are, He is the potter and you’re still the clay!
